The Facts, Dated and Accounted For

12 min read

This book leans on a great many contemporary facts. Below are the most important ones, ordered by topic, with the date on which they occurred and the source from which they come. One warning up front, which colors the whole appendix: this book was written in the spring and summer of 2026, and the world moves fast. Some of the facts below will, by the time you read this, have been overtaken, revised, or rendered obsolete by events. Where a datum was still uncertain or disputed on the date of writing, that is emphatically noted. The spiritual line of the book does not hang on any one of these facts individually, but on the pattern that becomes visible beneath them.

1. The Israel-Iran Wars

  • 12-Day War, June 2025. On 13 June 2025 Israel launched a large-scale attack on Iranian nuclear and military targets; on 22 June the US bombed the Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan installations; on 24 June a ceasefire was declared. (Britannica, "12-Day War"; Al Jazeera, 24 June 2025; Wikipedia, "Iran–Israel war".)
  • Second war, spring 2026. From late February 2026 a new, larger series of attacks in which supreme leader Ali Khamenei was killed, with his son Mojtaba as intended successor; a Pakistan-brokered ceasefire around 8 April 2026; the Strait of Hormuz remained closed. (House of Commons Library, briefing CBP-10637, updated 3 June 2026; Wikipedia, "2026 Iran war".) Flag: the details of this second war came partly from overview articles (Wikipedia/Britannica) that link onward to Reuters/AP/FT; the House of Commons briefing is the most strongly verified source. The ceasefire was fragile on the date of writing.

2. Iran's "Axis of Resistance"

  • 17 September 2024: pager and walkie-talkie attacks in Lebanon/Syria. (Wikipedia, "2024 Lebanon electronic device attacks".)
  • 27-28 September 2024: Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah killed in an Israeli airstrike on Beirut. (NPR, 29 September 2024.)
  • December 2024: fall of Bashar al-Assad; the Iranian supply line through Syria severed. (Ynetnews, 2024.)
  • Mid-2026: Hamas and Hezbollah refuse to disarm despite pressure. (House of Commons Library, CBP-10637.)

3. The Board of Peace and the Gaza Plan

  • 29 September 2025: Trump announces a 20-point plan for Gaza; signed 9 October, taking effect 10 October 2025. (Wikipedia, "Gaza peace plan"; CFR, "Guide to Trump's twenty-point Gaza peace deal".)
  • The Board of Peace is a real body: mandated via UN Security Council Resolution 2803 (17 November 2025); charter signed in Davos on 22 January 2026; Trump chairman. (Wikipedia, "Board of Peace"; boardofpeace.org.)
  • Status mid-2026: first meeting February 2026; many EU countries held back; reconstruction barely begun. (International Crisis Group; Axios, 4 December 2025; J Street.)

4. Turkey

  • Second military of NATO (after the US), ~355,000 active personnel; world leader in armed drones (Baykar). (Türkiye Today; Defensehere; SIPRI/IISS recommended for cross-verification — Turkish state figures may be optimistic.)
  • KAAN (5th-generation jet): first contract for 20 aircraft May 2026; dependent on US approval for engines. (Breaking Defense, May 2026.)
  • Montreux Convention (1936): Turkish control over the Bosporus/Dardanelles; applied in the Russia-Ukraine war. (Wikipedia, "Montreux Convention".)
  • Israel rupture: all economic ties severed April 2024; ICJ support; arrest warrants against Israeli officials Nov. 2025. (JINSA, 2025; FDD, 17 December 2025.)
  • Proxy rivalry Turkey/Qatar vs. UAE/Saudi/Egypt: Libya, Sudan, the Horn, post-Assad Syria. Turkey-UAE trade >$45 bn in 2025 (reconciliation on the economic front, rivalry on the ground). (ECFR; Horn Review, 13 January 2026; Turkish Minute, 9 May 2026.)

5. Saudi-Israel & the Abraham Accords

  • Normalization Saudi-Israel frozen mid-2026; Saudi condition: an irreversible path to a Palestinian state. (INSS, "Saudi-Israel 2026"; Times of Israel.)
  • Recognition of a Palestinian state, September 2025: UK, Canada, Australia, and France (plus several smaller states); by mid-2025 ~157 of 193 UN states recognize Palestine. (NPR, 22 September 2025; House of Commons Library, CBP-10323.)

6. IMEC (India–Middle East–Europe Corridor)

  • Announced at the G20 in New Delhi, 9 September 2023; a rail and sea corridor with energy and fiber-optic components. Construction began ~April 2025. (Atlantic Council; Wikipedia, "IMEC".)
  • The Jordan-Israel branch effectively paused by the Gaza war; truck transport as an interim solution. (Modern Diplomacy, October 2025; Jerusalem Post.)

7. The Gulf: Funds, AI/Data Centers, Oil

  • Sovereign funds together ~$5 trillion (PIF ~$0.9–1.1 tn; ADIA ~$1.1 tn; plus Mubadala, ADQ, QIA, KIA). In 2025 Gulf funds accounted for ~43% of all global SWF investments. (PIF; Arab News; Skadden, "2025 Insights".)
  • AI/compute: in November 2025 the US approved the export of advanced Nvidia chips (GB300/Blackwell) to G42 (UAE) and HUMAIN (Saudi) — together ~70,000. Stargate UAE: a 1 GW cluster (part of a 5 GW campus). (The National, 20 November 2025; Middle East AI News.)
  • Logistics: DP World moves ~10% of global container traffic; record revenue $24.4 bn in 2025. (DP World, 2025.)
  • Oil: the UAE left OPEC as of 1 May 2026; Saudi Arabia remains the only true swing producer; the Strait of Hormuz handles ~20 m barrels/day (±1/5 of world consumption). (Al Jazeera, 29 April 2026; EIA.)

8. Petrodollar & De-dollarization — A Myth Corrected

  • There never was a formal "petrodollar agreement" that mandated dollars. What expired on 9 June 2024 was an unrelated economic cooperation commission from 1974. The claim that "the agreement expired" has been debunked by fact-checkers. (PolitiFact, 20 June 2024; Radio Free Asia, 8 July 2024.)
  • De-dollarization is real but gradual: the dollar's share of reserves ~57% (the lowest since 1995); central banks buy >1,000 tons of gold/year; mBridge (CBDC) and CIPS are growing, but the yuan is still ~3% of SWIFT against ~48% dollar. The dollar remains dominant in clearing and invoicing. (World Gold Council, 2025; FXC Intelligence, May 2025; Federal Reserve IFDP.)

9. Pax Americana Under Pressure

  • Tariff war: "Liberation Day" tariffs 2 April 2025 (China up to 125%) — the highest since 1909; in February 2026 declared unlawful by the US Supreme Court. (Wikipedia, "Liberation Day tariffs"; CFR.)
  • Alliance erosion: doubts about Article 5; annexation rhetoric over Greenland, Panama, Canada. (Atlantic Council; Newsweek.)
  • Transactional commodity deals: Ukraine minerals deal (30 April 2025, without security guarantees); Venezuela/Chevron as leverage; DRC. (CSIS; Washington Post, 24 July 2025.)
  • The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize went to María Corina Machado, not to Trump; several claimed "peace deals" are disputed. (Al Jazeera, 9 October 2025; NPR, 12 December 2025.)

10. Food, Fertilizer, Climate Signal

  • FAO Food Price Index May 2026: 130.8 points, ~2.9% higher than a year earlier. (FAO, May/June 2026.)
  • Acute food insecurity: ~266 million people in 2025, roughly doubled in a decade; for the first time two confirmed famines (Gaza, Sudan). (Global Report on Food Crises 2026 / WFP-UNICEF-FAO, 24 April 2026.)
  • Fertilizer hangs on natural gas and on a few producers; Russia + Belarus ~40% of potash exports; China restricted urea exports (-90%+ in 2024). (World Bank Blogs; USDA ERS.)
  • ENSO mid-2026 — uncertain. The sources contradicted one another (El Niño vs. neutral/La Niña); to be verified via the live NOAA CPC discussion. A severe El Niño hits the world harvest asymmetrically (corn down to -4%). (NOAA CPC; IRI; Iizumi et al., Nature Communications.) Flag: this book deliberately does not pin down the ENSO state.

11. Space Weather / Solar Maximum

  • Solar Cycle 25: maximum officially announced 15 October 2024; peak ~2024-2026. The G5 "Gannon" storm of 10-12 May 2024 was the most severe in >20 years. (NOAA SWPC; Wikipedia, "May 2024 solar storms".)
  • Carrington-class risk: model estimates of $0.6–2.6 trillion in damage (US); recovery of heavy transformers takes months. (Lloyd's of London / AER, 2013 — model estimate, not a prediction.)

12. Digital & Supply-Chain Vulnerability

  • CrowdStrike outage, 19 July 2024: a single faulty update brought down ~8.5 million Windows systems; ~5,000 flights canceled; tens of billions in damage. (Wikipedia, "2024 CrowdStrike-related IT outages"; CISA alert 19 July 2024; CNN Business, 24 July 2024.)
  • Just-in-time: supermarkets typically run on ~3 days of stock; the "3-day" rule of thumb turned out to be insufficient under sustained disruption. (peer-reviewed, PMC7541051, 2020.)

13. Water as a Weapon — Turkey & the Euphrates

GAP project: 22 dams and 19 hydroelectric plants on the Euphrates and Tigris; the Atatürk Dam reduced the Euphrates flow by ~⅓. Iraq spoke in 2025-2026 of "the worst drought ever." (Wikipedia, "Southeastern Anatolia Project"; ISPI; Fanack Water.) Flag: presented as a factual parallel to Revelation 16:12, not as an established fulfillment.

14. Israel's Gas

Fields (2024): Leviathan 11.3 bcm, Tamar 10.1 bcm, Karish 5.8 bcm. A 15-year export deal with Egypt (~$35 bn, 130 bcm from Leviathan through 2040), approved mid-2025; phase 1 expected to start in the first half of 2026. Record production 2026. (OilPrice; Times of Israel, August 2025; Energy Connects.) Flag: as a factual parallel to Ezekiel 38:12-13.

15. Oil Lines via Jordan/Israel

  • EAPC (Eilat–Ashkelon): an existing pipeline (~600,000 barrels/day) that can bypass both Hormuz and Suez; the MED-RED deal with the UAE (2020) has been frozen since ~2021 for environmental reasons. (Wikipedia, "Eilat Ashkelon Pipeline Company"; Times of Israel; Washington Institute.)
  • Operational Hormuz bypasses: the Saudi Petroline to Yanbu (~7 m barrels/day) and the Emirati ADCOP to Fujairah (~1.8 m barrels/day) — both countries, however, on the Red Sea/Gulf of Oman, not on the Mediterranean. (Pipeline Technology Journal; CNBC, 12 March 2026.)

16. The Temple Mount: Red Heifers & Temple Readiness

The Temple Institute has, since the 1980s, kept tools, garments, and plans ready. For purification, Numbers 19 requires the ashes of a perfectly red heifer; for the first time in centuries, red heifers have been brought to Israel that, according to the Institute, meet the requirements. (Temple Institute.) Flag: the suitability and the exact status are disputed; to be formulated cautiously in the book ("according to the Temple Institute").

17. Theological Sources & Notes

  • Deuteronomy 32:8 — "sons of God." The book follows the reading of the Septuagint and the Qumran scrolls ("according to the number of the sons of God"); the Masoretic text has "sons of Israel." This is a defensible but text-critically disputed choice. (M. Heiser, The Unseen Realm; Deut. 32:8 LXX/4QDeut.)
  • The divine council / the princes behind the nations: Psalm 82; Daniel 10:13,20; Deuteronomy 32:8-9. (Heiser, divine-council tradition.)
  • Apollyon/Abaddon and the apōleia chain: Revelation 9:11; 11:7; 17:8,11; 2 Thessalonians 2:3. The Septuagint translates the Hebrew abaddon with the Greek apōleia. (BDB; Septuagint; Aune and Beale on Revelation.)
  • The "Assyrian" as an end-times type: Isaiah 10; 14:24-27; 30:33; 31:8; Micah 5:5-6; Nahum. Victorinus of Pettau (±280 AD) expressly calls "Assur" from Micah 5 the antichrist ("Assur, id est antichristum," on Revelation 7:2). On Revelation 11:7 he places him, with Ezekiel 31:3, "in the kingdom of kingdoms" and says that he "has been under the caesars": his interpretation of that time. Only Jerome's revision turns this into "the kingdom of kingdoms, that is, of the Romans." The "caliphate" of 2014 was proclaimed from Mosul, the old Nineveh (Genesis 10:11), on 1 Ramadan 1435 (29 June 2014). Flag: the Assur line is interpreted in the book, not documented, and it chafes with the Babel axis: Mosul is Nineveh, not Babel or Shinar. The equation "spirit of Assur = Apollyon" is expressly presented as a typological hypothesis, not as an established identity. (Victorinus, Commentary on the Apocalypse, ed. Haussleiter, CSEL 49, 1916, pp. 84, 100 and 102; Jerome's revision pp. 101 and 103; Barton-Payne.)
  • Islamic eschatology: the Mahdi (Twelver: the hidden 12th imam, occultation 874; Sunni: an end-times leader from the lineage of the Prophet); Isa who breaks the cross and abolishes the jizya; the Dajjal; Khorasan and the black banners; Dabiq / al-Malhama al-Kubra. (Qur'an; hadith corpora Bukhari/Muslim; standard reference works on Islamic eschatology.)

18. Parallel societies and social control (on chapter 18)

This concerns documented dynamics in particular segments of immigrant-origin communities — not among Muslims as a whole, and strongly entangled with deprivation and recent migration. The strong claim of sharia-"governed" no-go zones is expressly debunked (police, fact-checkers); what exists are deprived, higher-crime neighbourhoods, which is a different thing.

  • Social control & parallel justice. A study commissioned by the State of Berlin (Rohe & Jaraba, 2015, on 93 interviews) documented informal, extrajudicial dispute-resolution that can undermine legal standards and pressure vulnerable parties (often women) — while stressing that German law applies everywhere. Dutch research (SCP) describes socio-cultural distance and normative pressure within parts of communities. (Rohe/Jaraba, Berlin 2015; SCP, 2015–2022.)
  • Honour-based violence. The Dutch police (LEC EGG) registered 757 honour-related cases in 2025 (2024: 673), with four fatal cases; the UK recorded about 2,949 "honour-based abuse" offences in 2024/25. Flag: the rise partly reflects better recording. (LEC EGG, 2025; UK Home Office, 2025.)
  • Antisemitism. The EU Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) found that roughly a quarter to a third of the most serious antisemitic harassment is attributed by victims to a perpetrator with an "extremist Muslim" view (2018: 30%; 2023: 27%) — alongside left- and right-wing perpetrators; these are perceived perpetrator profiles. (FRA, 2018 and 2023.)
  • Segregation & integration. The UK Casey Review (2016) found rising segregation and "regressive cultural practices" holding some women back; Dutch SCP figures show improved structural integration but persistent socio-cultural distance in parts of the community. (Casey, 2016; SCP, 2022.)
