Compendium — a brief portrait of God

In-depth:

God is incomparable. Matchlessly many-sided and yet perfectly one; indescribably high and yet tenderer than any father; holy, holy, holy — and in that very holiness the God who stoops the deepest. This appendix is a portrait sketch of that incomparable God: of who YHWH is, of His Names, of His mighty deeds, and of how He deals with us.

You may take this overview into your quiet time — to ponder it, to meditate on it, and to hold on to it in hard seasons. For the same God who made a way straight through the sea, at the place where every hope of rescue seemed to have drowned, is still that very same God today. In our distress He is near, even when it seems He has forgotten us. And whether we live or whether we die — we are safe in His hand.

On the left stands, each time, a characteristic or an act; on the right, the Scripture passages where the book shows it. It is a summarizing portrait, not an exhaustive doctrine — and it wants above all one thing: that you look up the texts yourself, read them, and worship Him anew.
