In-depth:

This is a verse index to Micah — A Window on the End*: a register of all the biblical references that actually occur in the text. It gives no page references — those will follow at final layout — but locators to the parts and the appendices, so that the reader can see where in the book a verse is treated or cited. The Divine Name stands as YHWH; the book abbreviations are the standard English ones.*

Locators: Introduction · Part I–IX · Conclusion · App. A–F · A Note on the Translation. The register has three parts: (1) Micah itself, the backbone, in chapter:verse order; (2) the rest of Scripture, in canonical order; (3) the other ancient sources (versional and rabbinic witnesses). Micah is numbered as in English Bibles; in chapter 5 the Masoretic Text counts one verse lower.

Part 1 — Micah (the backbone)

For each verse, the part where it is primarily treated comes first, then the places where it recurs elsewhere. Verses without a part of their own occur only elsewhere (often in an appendix).

Part 3 — Other Ancient Sources

Versional and rabbinic witnesses. These do not belong in the Scripture Index as biblical verses; here only the locator parts where they have a voice in the book.

- Targum (Jonathan) — Introduction, Part II, Part V, Part VIII, App. C, App. F, A Note on the Translation - Septuagint (LXX) — Part II, Part V (exodoi in 5:1), App. D (epiloipoi in 5:2), A Note on the Translation - Vulgate / Jerome (In Michaeam) — Part V, App. C, A Note on the Translation - Peshitta — A Note on the Translation - Mishnah, Sotah 9:15 — Part VII, A Note on the Translation - Talmud, Sanhedrin 97a — Part VII, A Note on the Translation - Talmud, Sanhedrin 98b — Part IV, A Note on the Translation - Talmud, Sukkah 52b — Part V, A Note on the Translation - Talmud, Pesachim 54a — Part V - Genesis Rabba 1:4 — Part V, A Note on the Translation - Jubilees 23 — Part VII, App. C, A Note on the Translation - Qumran — 1QHa (Hodayot) — App. C, A Note on the Translation - Qumran — 8ḤevXIIgr (Naḥal Ḥever) — App. B, A Note on the Translation - Qumran — Mur88 (Wadi Murabbaʿat) — App. B, A Note on the Translation

(The medieval Jewish commentators Rashi, Ibn Ezra, and Radak are cited repeatedly at the cruxes — among others Part II, Part V, App. C, App. F, A Note on the Translation — but they are interpreters, not textual witnesses, and therefore do not stand as a source in this register.)

What I have not seen

- Loose word-references without a verse. Where the book names a biblical book only by name without chapter or verse (e.g. "Jonah" as a neighbouring book, or Israel's history in general terms), this is not included; only real references (book + chapter, or chapter:verse) stand in the register. - The Reader's guide at the front (`00 - Reader's guide and rationale.md`) was not on the assignment list; I checked it briefly — it contains only the part-titles with their Micah range (Micah 1 through 7:18-20) and the versification note, no new references. - Greek/Hebrew root words. The many transliterations (jatsa, sheerit, chesed, etc.) and stray Greek words (exodoi, epiloipoi, hērpasthē) are not biblical references and fell outside this register; they do stand in App. D (glossary). - Completeness of the appendix locators. App. A (the master concordance) and App. E (the thread map) name many Micah verses in table form; I have included these as locators where the verse stands there explicitly, but the tables sometimes bundle verse ranges (e.g. "4:10-13", "7:11-15") which I have assigned to the nearest single verse — at the copy-editing stage, a final check against those two tables is advisable.
